Susquehanna Valley Weather Report March 2025

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) — A weather update from the National Weather Service highlights ongoing high wind warnings and the potential for snow showers across the Susquehanna Valley this weekend. The forecasts indicate that Friday will see peak wind gusts between 30 and 35 miles per hour, while temperatures are expected to rise to around 50 degrees.

The weather system moving into the area is expected to bring isolated rain and snow showers late Friday night, primarily between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. Saturday. According to meteorologists, precipitation amounts will be light and scattered, and minimal accumulations are anticipated.

“The chance of snow accumulation is low, but if snow does occur, it may primarily be a light dusting,” said meteorologist Lindsay Storrs. “The winds will die down overnight but will pick up again on Saturday, especially in the afternoon.”

Saturday is projected to be cooler, with highs in the mid to upper 40s, and a mix of clouds and sunshine is expected throughout the day.

“Sunday looks to be clearer and warmer, reaching highs into the 50s, which will offer a pleasant contrast to the chilly start of the weekend,” Storrs noted.

Further into next week, temperatures are expected to rise significantly. Monday and Tuesday could see highs near 78 degrees, with a chance of showers returning late on Tuesday, into Wednesday morning.

Travelers should exercise caution due to possible slick road conditions from Friday night into Saturday morning as light snow may accumulate, particularly on untreated surfaces. Local residents are reminded to stay updated on weather conditions, especially regarding fire advisories due to the unpredictable wind patterns.

As the weather fluctuates, officials emphasize the importance of being prepared for varying temperatures and changing conditions. “Layering clothing and being prepared for precipitation can make a significant difference in comfort and safety during this time,” a spokesperson for the National Weather Service advised.

As always, the community is encouraged to keep an eye on forecasts over the upcoming week.
