Al-Hilal Aims to Rebound Against Al Okhdood in Saudi Pro League Clash
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Hilal will host Al Okhdood at the Kingdom Arena on Friday, January 31, 2025, as they seek to bounce back from a rare defeat and maintain their position at the top of the table. The match kicks off at 8:45 PM IST and will be streamed live on SonyLIV.
Al-Hilal, the defending champions, suffered a 2-1 loss to Al-Qadisiyah on Monday, snapping a five-game winning streak. Despite the setback, they remain atop the league standings with 43 points from 17 matches, tied with Al-Ittihad on goal difference. The Riyadh-based club boasts a perfect home record this season, winning all eight league matches at the Kingdom Arena while scoring 30 goals and conceding just seven.
Al Okhdood, on the other hand, are fighting to stay clear of the relegation zone. After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, they have struggled this term, sitting 13th with 15 points from 18 games. However, recent away wins against Al Wehda and Al-Raed have provided a glimmer of hope for the visitors.
Al-Hilal will be without star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who has missed the last four games due to injury. In his absence, Marcos Leonardo and Malcom are expected to lead the attack, supported by midfield maestros Ruben Neves and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Al Okhdood, meanwhile, will rely on Christian Bassogog and Naif Asiri to spearhead their efforts against the league’s most potent attack.
“We need to focus on our strengths and play with confidence,” said Al-Hilal coach Jorge Jesus. “Every match is crucial at this stage of the season.”
Al Okhdood manager added, “Facing Al-Hilal is always a challenge, but we believe in our ability to compete and secure a positive result.”
With both teams eager for a win, Friday’s clash promises to be a compelling encounter as Al-Hilal aims to extend their lead and Al Okhdood fights for survival.
