Historic Game 7 Officiating Crew Announced for Stanley Cup Final
NHL Director of Officiating Stephen Walkom has revealed the lineup for the crucial Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, with the odd-numbered crew set to take charge. The experienced team comprises Dan O’Rourke and Steve Kozari, along with Matt MacPherson and Jonny Murray.
O’Rourke and Kozari have already officiated several intense matchups in this series, including Game 1, Game 3, and Game 5. They continued their partnership into the Conference Finals, overseeing crucial encounters like FLA/NYR Game 1 and DAL/EDM Game 3.
Kozari forged a successful partnership with Kyle Rehman in the earlier rounds, handling games involving teams like NSH, VAN, COL, WPG, NYR, WSH, TOR, BOS, and more. Meanwhile, O’Rourke collaborated with officials like Tom Chmielewski, Chris Rooney, and Wes McCauley in the preceding playoff rounds.
Both O’Rourke and Kozari have a wealth of experience but have never officiated a Stanley Cup Final Game 7. Kozari notably worked a Cup-clinching game in 2014, while O’Rourke has been part of two Cup-winning games in the past.
Tonight’s showdown will be a significant moment for O’Rourke, as he vies for the record of most Stanley Cup Final games officiated by an active official, currently tied with Chris Rooney. With standout performances in recent games, O’Rourke will look to add another memorable game to his officiating portfolio.
As the stage is set for the historic Game 7, the officials are prepared to oversee a thrilling matchup between the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers. With impressive track records in the postseason, these officials aim to uphold the integrity and fairness of the game as the teams vie for the coveted Stanley Cup title.
