Spencer Dinwiddie Basketball Highlights

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — The Charlotte Hornets have waived veteran guard Spencer Dinwiddie, sources reported to ESPN‘s Shams Charania on October 16, 2025. The decision comes as the team needed to release a guaranteed salary before the regular-season opener next week.

Dinwiddie signed a one-year, $3.6 million contract with the Hornets in July amid the free agency period, but only played in two preseason games with the team. Last season, he averaged 14.3 points and 6.2 assists when he started in 30 games.

In the 2024-25 season, Dinwiddie appeared in 79 games for the Dallas Mavericks, where he averaged 11 points, 4.4 assists, and 2.6 rebounds in about 27 minutes per game. During his career, Dinwiddie has played a crucial role as a sixth man, notably for the Mavericks’ 2022 team that reached the Western Conference Finals.

As he enters his 12th NBA season, Dinwiddie has previously competed with teams including the Brooklyn Nets and the Washington Wizards. Throughout his career, he has played in 621 games, starting in 345 of them, while averaging 13.0 points and 5.1 assists per game.
