Hsieh Su Wei Reaches Australian Open Doubles And Mixed Doubles Finals

Taiwan’s Hsieh Su-wei and her Polish partner Jan Zielinski displayed a stellar performance in the Australian Open tennis tournament, as they advanced to both the doubles and mixed doubles finals. In the mixed doubles, Hsieh and Zielinski defeated Jaimee Fourlis and Andrew Harris in straight sets to secure their place in the final match. They will face US player Desirae Krawczyk and UK player Neal Skupski in the mixed doubles final.

Despite their previous victories at the tournament, Hsieh and Zielinski had a challenging start as their semifinal match extended to a tie-break in the first set. However, they managed to save three set points and emerged victorious. In the second set, the duo broke serve twice and comfortably secured a 6-2 win.

Earlier in the tournament, Hsieh also showcased her skills in the women’s doubles alongside her Belgian partner Elise Mertens. The pair, who previously won the women’s doubles title at Wimbledon, triumphed in their quarterfinal match against Demi Schuurs and Luisa Stefani. They are set to face Storm Hunter and Katerina Siniakova in the semifinals for a chance to reach the final.

It is worth noting that Hsieh’s previous best performance in the women’s doubles at the Australian Open was a second-place finish back in 2020 with her former partner, Barbora Strycova.

In the women’s singles category, Chinese player Zheng Qinwen made an impressive comeback from a set down to defeat Russian player Anna Kalinskaya. Zheng’s victory secured her a spot in the semifinals, where she will face Ukrainian qualifier Dayana Yastremska.

The men’s singles competition saw Daniil Medvedev securing a spot in the semifinals after a hard-fought match against Hubert Hurkacz of Poland. Medvedev, who previously reached the finals in the Australian Open, came out on top with a 5-set victory.
