Human Torch Receives Critical Buffs in Marvel Rivals Update

LOS ANGELES, CA — In a major update for Marvel Rivals on March 12, 2025, the character Human Torch received significant buffs aimed at enhancing his gameplay experience and competitiveness within the title. Despite being one of the newest entries to the game, Human Torch has struggled, being labeled one of the weakest heroes, with his win rate barely exceeding that of Black Widow, who has long been viewed as one of the game’s lesser characters.
The update focuses on Human Torch’s primary fire attack, streamlining its usability. According to the developer’s note, this change is intended to refine his solo takedown potential, eliminating the perceived clunkiness that plagued his attacks. Additionally, fireballs will now be delivered more rapidly, offering improved combat efficiency.
While Team-Up abilities have kept Human Torch relevant, particularly in conjunction with Storm‘s devastating capabilities, the recent update also grants a minor damage buff to his fiery tornado ultimate attack. “The reliance on team dynamics to see success has been an issue, and these adjustments should allow for a more viable solo experience,” a developer representative explained.
The patch notes also highlight smaller adjustments for characters Iron Man and Cloak and Dagger. Iron Man’s explosive damage will see a slight increase, while Dagger’s projectile healing now focuses more on targeted healing rather than area-of-effect actions. Nonetheless, player feedback indicates concern regarding Cloak and Dagger, who remain a formidable healing duo.
The current meta within Marvel Rivals continues to favor tank-heavy compositions. Players seem to gravitate towards more resilient characters due to insufficient protection from support heroes. “We’re not fully repeating the earlier dynamics yet, but the trend is becoming apparent,” noted a long-time player.
Meanwhile, the community continues to debate the efficacy of each hero as season 1.5 unfolds. With only nine characters allocated to the C-tier or below in the current tier list, the overall landscape appears balanced, though continual shifts are expected as players adapt to gameplay changes.
As the game progresses towards season 2, players are encouraged to stay updated with ongoing tier variations, especially among Duelist characters, which are defined by their ability to strike effectively. Given Marvel Rivals’ competitive nature, players must refine their strategies based on the shifting effectiveness of characters.
