Hubert Hurkacz Atp Rome Match

Rome, ItalyHubert Hurkacz defeated Pedro Martinez in the first round of the ATP tournament in Rome on May 10, 2025. The match began at approximately 1:00 PM local time, following a brief delay.

After struggling in previous tournaments, Hurkacz aimed to bounce back on the clay courts of Rome. He entered the match with a record of 3-0 against Martinez at the professional level and was looking to extend this winning streak.

“Now that I’m back in Marbella with my team, we’ve been working hard and are ready to take the next steps,” Hurkacz posted on social media prior to the match, indicating his determination to turn around a challenging season marked by health issues.

Hurkacz quickly took control of the first set, winning 6-1. He maintained pressure throughout the match, demonstrating skillful serves and strong groundstrokes. Martinez, ranked 49th in the ATP, struggled to keep pace with Hurkacz’s momentum.

Despite Hurkacz’s early lead, the second set proved competitive. Martinez came back to pressure Hurkacz, once leading 5-2. However, Hurkacz’s resilience shone through as he rallied to win the second set 6-5, securing his place in the third round.

After the match, Hurkacz expressed his relief and joy, stating, “It feels great to win here in Rome, especially after the rough patches I’ve had. I’ll take this momentum into the next match.”

Hurkacz’s next opponent will be either Taylor Fritz or Marcos Giron, with that match scheduled for Monday.
