Carolina Hurricanes Tampa Bay Lightning Game March 2025

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Carolina Hurricanes will aim for their fifth consecutive win when they face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight at Lenovo Center. The matchup is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, broadcasted on ESPN+ and Hulu.

Carolina, boasting a record of 38-22-4 and occupying second place in the Metropolitan Division, comes off a 4-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on March 9. The Hurricanes have been on a roll, winning four straight games, all against playoff-contending teams.

The Lightning, holding a record of 37-22-4 and currently in third in the Atlantic Division, are looking to bounce back after a 4-0 loss to the Boston Bruins on March 8. Despite the setback, Tampa has won 10 of its last 12 games, showcasing their resilience this season.

“We’re focused on keeping our momentum,” said Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour. “Each game is a new challenge, and we need to stay sharp against a tough opponent like Tampa Bay.”

The Lightning have had success against the Hurricanes earlier this season, winning both previous meetings and outscoring Carolina 7-3 overall. They aim to extend that success tonight, as they seek to improve their road record, which stands at 14-14-2.

Carolina recently made a significant trade, sending Mikko Rantanen to the Dallas Stars in exchange for promising young player Logan Stankoven. This move aims to bolster their offensive lineup as they contend for a deeper playoff run.

In contrast, the Lightning are looking to refine their playoff positioning, sitting five points behind the first-place Florida Panthers. They have been a formidable force at home, with a record of 25-7-1 at Lenovo Center this season.

“We need to shake off that last game and remember what’s made us successful,” Lightning head coach Jon Cooper stated on the team’s preparations for tonight. “Carolina is playing well, so we’ll need to bring our A-game.”

Looking to make an impact for Tampa Bay is forward Brandon Hagel, who has accumulated 30 goals and 40 assists for 70 points this season. He leads the team in plus-minus rating at +27.

The Hurricanes are favored in tonight’s matchup, with betting lines showing Carolina opening at -130, indicating a strong public backing with over 61% of bettors favoring the Hurricanes’ moneyline. The Over/Under is set at 5.5 goals.

As the teams take the ice, expect an intense battle as both sides are gunning for crucial points in the playoff race. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m. ET, with broadcast available through ESPN+ and local radio stations.
