Nebraska Basketball Vs Penn State February 2025

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Nebraska Cornhuskers men’s basketball team will take on the Penn State Nittany Lions Wednesday night at the Bryce Jordan Center, with tipoff set for 6:30 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.

After a dramatic comeback victory against Northwestern this past Sunday, where they overcame a 20-point deficit to win 68-64, the Cornhuskers (17-9, 7-8 B1G) are looking to maintain their momentum on the road. Nebraska shot 61 percent in the second half against the Wildcats, securing their fifth road win of the season.

“It was an impressive fight back by the guys,” said Nebraska head coach Fred Hoiberg. “Getting the win was crucial as we head into a challenging part of our schedule.”

In their last game, the Nittany Lions (13-13, 3-12 B1G) suffered a narrow 75-73 loss to Washington, further complicating their chances of qualifying for the Big Ten Tournament. Ace Baldwin Jr. led the team with 20 points, showing flashes of brilliance, but the Nittany Lions need a significant turnaround in the latter part of the season.

“We’re still fighting for our position in the tournament,” Baldwin said. “Every game is important for us, and we have to treat these next few games as must-wins.”

The matchup marks the 28th meeting between the two teams, with Penn State holding a 14-13 all-time advantage. Since Nebraska joined the Big Ten, the two have split their series at 12-12, with Nebraska winning the last clash decisively, 69-48, in Lincoln.

As the Huskers prepare for the contest, they are ranked No. 46 in the NET rankings, with aspirations for a strong finish to the season. The team boasts an experienced roster, including senior guard Brice Williams, who has been pivotal in recent outings, averaging 19.5 points over his last several games.

Penn State has struggled in conference play but has shown potential, particularly with players like Baldwin and newcomer Yanic Konan Niederhauser, who averages 12.2 points and 6.2 rebounds. According to Coach Mike Rhoades, “We need to finish games stronger if we want a chance at the tournament.”

The match will be broadcast live on the Huskers Radio Network with Kent Pavelka and Jake Muhleisen providing commentary. Additionally, fans can catch the action via the Fox Sports app.

As the Cornhuskers seek their fourth consecutive road win, both teams understand the significance of the game. A victory for Nebraska would not only bolster their conference standing but also solidify their chances for postseason play, while Penn State would desperately seek to turn the tide of their recent performances.
