Huskers Host Ducks in Annual Play4Kay Pink Game

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Nebraska Cornhuskers women’s basketball team welcomes the Oregon Ducks to Pinnacle Bank Arena for its annual Play4Kay Pink Game on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 7 p.m. CT. This event promotes cancer awareness and supports those battling the disease.
The Huskers (17-9, 8-7 Big Ten) are looking to rebound after a tough 77-68 loss at Illinois last Sunday, while the Ducks (18-8, 9-6 Big Ten) come to Lincoln following a 76-70 victory over Minnesota.
Head Coach Amy Williams‘ squad features standout center Alexis Markowski, who scored 28 points against Illinois and leads the team with an average of 15.5 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Markowski, a three-time All-Big Ten selection, is just 11 points shy of entering Nebraska’s top 10 career scorers and has 49 career double-doubles, placing her second on the school’s all-time rebounds list.
Markowski has been on a scoring tear, averaging 17.8 points over her last 11 games. However, she expressed the need for the team to shake off the recent defeat: “We just have to stay focused and make sure we bring our intensity on defense and control the boards,” she said.
Another notable player on the Huskers is freshman point guard Alexis Prince, who is averaging 12.9 points and ranking among the top assists and steals leaders in the Big Ten. Prince is day-to-day after sustaining an injury in the Illinois game, where she recorded eight assists and nine points.
“It was unfortunate to see her go down, and we’re all hoping for a quick recovery,” Williams said regarding Prince’s condition. “She’s been critical for our team’s success this season.”
The game will also be broadcasted live on the Huskers Radio Network, with Matt Coatney and Jeff Griesch providing coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. CT.
Oregon, led by coach Kelly Graves, will be making its first trip to Lincoln for women’s basketball. The Ducks boast a balanced roster with 12 players competing in most games, including leading scorer Deja Kelly, a North Carolina transfer averaging 10.7 points per game.
In their previous matchup, Oregon edged past Nebraska in 1985, leading the all-time series 1-0. Both teams aim for a crucial win as they approach the end of the regular season.
Tickets for the Pink Game are available through the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office and online at Huskers.com. This special event promises to be an exciting night for the community, raising awareness for cancer and fostering school spirit among fans.
