Hyeseong Kim Makes MLB History in Dodgers’ Victory Over Yankees

LOS ANGELES — Hyeseong Kim made history on Saturday, becoming the first player in the modern MLB era to achieve four hits, a home run, an unassisted double play, and an outfield assist all in one game. This remarkable feat occurred during the Dodgers‘ 18-2 rout of the New York Yankees.
Kim went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, adding a walk in his first at-bat, marking his third perfect game during his brief MLB career. He hit a two-run homer in the second inning, extending the Dodgers’ lead to 10-0.
During the game, Kim displayed exceptional defensive skills. He made an unassisted double play in the third inning after catching a line drive and tagging second base. Later, he made a perfect throw from center field to throw out Aaron Judge in the sixth inning.
Despite limited playing time, Kim has been impressive this season, boasting a batting average of .422 with two home runs and seven RBIs in just 48 plate appearances. He started the season with Triple-A Oklahoma, where he hit .252 with five home runs and 18 RBIs in 28 games before joining the Dodgers on May 3.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts had initially planned to send Kim back to the minors when injured players Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernandez returned. However, his strong performance forced the team’s hand. “Performance, and how he’s playing, certainly helps his case,” said Roberts.
Although Kim will sit out the series finale against the Yankees as the Dodgers aim for a sweep, he is expected to return to the lineup on Monday against the New York Mets.
