Icc Women's T20 World Cup 2024

The ninth edition of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup is set to commence in the United Arab Emirates on October 3, 2024. Originally scheduled to be held in Bangladesh, the venue was relocated to the UAE due to ongoing civil unrest in Bangladesh. Despite the change in location, Bangladesh retains the status of the host team for the tournament.

The 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup involves ten teams divided into two groups of five. Each team will compete in four group-stage matches, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals scheduled for October 17 and 18. All matches of the tournament will take place in Sharjah and Dubai, with the final set to be played on October 20 in Dubai.

Group A features Australia, the defending champions, along with India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka. Group B includes Bangladesh, England, the West Indies, Scotland, and South Africa. Australia enters the tournament as the defending champions, having dominated the competition historically by securing victory in all but two editions.

The fixtures set to open the tournament include Bangladesh vs. Scotland in Sharjah at 3:30 PM IST, followed by Pakistan vs. Sri Lanka at the same venue at 7:30 PM IST on October 3. India will begin their campaign against New Zealand on October 4 in Dubai.

The broadcasting rights in India are owned by Star Sports Network, with live streaming available on the Disney Plus Hotstar app and website.

Both groups will witness intense competition as teams aim to secure their places in the semi-finals. Notable matches include the India-Pakistan clash on October 6 in Dubai and Australia facing their New Zealand counterparts on October 10 in Sharjah.

Australia aims for their seventh title in the tournament’s history, starting with their opening match against Sri Lanka on October 5 in Sharjah. The Indian team, who previously reached the final in 2020, looks to improve upon their past performances, inspired by their male counterparts’ recent successes.

The extensive list of fixtures reflects the anticipation for competitive cricket, while fans can continue to follow updates, analyze team performances, and monitor player statistics through various digital platforms.
