PARIS, France — Iga Świątek will play her next match in the third round of the Roland Garros against Jaqueline Cristian on Friday at approximately 1 p.m. local time. As the Polish tennis star continues her quest for a fourth title at this Grand Slam event, she previously defeated Emma Raducanu and Rebecca Sramkova with commanding scores.

Świątek’s performance has impressed many, as she quickly dispatched Sramkova 6-3, 6-3 and followed it with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Raducanu. Reporters at Roland Garros are optimistic for her chances against Cristian, who ranks 60th in the WTA rankings.

“I felt good in both matches and was able to execute my game plan despite tricky conditions,” Świątek said in a post-match interview. She has trained diligently leading up to the event, arriving in Paris over a week early, which she noted was a new approach for her.

Cristian, a 26-year-old Romanian player, made headlines earlier this year with her unexpected victories but has not reached a WTA tournament final. She fought hard to reach this stage, taking down Sara Bejlek in her last match. Świątek is not expected to face significant challenges against Cristian, who lacks previous Grand Slam experience.

Sunday could bring a more challenging matchup for Świątek should she advance, as she may face either Elena Rybakina or Jelena Ostapenko, both formidable opponents with their recent performances. The match against Cristian is set to begin as the second match of the day on the Suzanne Lenglen court, following the opening match at 11 a.m.

As excitement builds for her upcoming match, Świątek remains focused, looking to carry her early tournament success through to the later rounds.
