DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Incarnate Word dominated Jacksonville with an 87-71 victory in the quarterfinals of the CBI Tournament on March 24, 2025, advancing to face Illinois State in the semifinals on Tuesday.

Three players from Incarnate Word contributed significantly to the win, with Davion Bailey leading the charge by scoring 23 points. He also recorded 22 rebounds and 21 assists, showcasing an exceptional all-around performance. Bailey noted, “We came out with the mindset to control the game from the start, and it paid off.”

Jalin Anderson complemented Bailey’s effort with a solid performance, adding five rebounds, five assists, and five steals to the scoreboard. Meanwhile, Jordan Pyke shot 8 of 11 from the field and added 4 of 7 from the free-throw line, contributing to the team’s offensive production.

Jacksonville (19-14) had their standout moments, with Zach Bell leading the team with 19 points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Robert McCray V followed closely with 14 points, 10 assists, and two steals. Stephon Payne III contributed 11 points and six rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Incarnate Word’s lead.

The game featured an electrifying atmosphere with an attendance of 832 fans at the Ocean Center. Incarnate Word shot 54.4% from the field compared to Jacksonville’s 48.2%, and 40% from beyond the arc, securing them the edge they needed to advance.

Looking ahead to their upcoming game against Illinois State, Anderson expressed optimism: “We know what’s at stake, and we’re ready to give it our all to reach the finals.” The basketball community eagerly anticipates the thrilling semifinal matchup, hoping to see if Incarnate Word can maintain their momentum.
