India Vs Bangladesh Cricket Match

India faced Bangladesh in the second T20I match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday. The Indian team managed to set a formidable target of 221 runs for nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs. This match is part of a three-match series where India aims to secure the series after winning the first T20I in Gwalior by seven wickets.

The hosts, having been put to bat first by Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, overcame an early challenge. India lost three wickets quickly in the powerplay, leaving them at 41 for three in the sixth over. Sanju Samson, who opened the Indian innings, scored a couple of boundaries before being dismissed, while Abhishek Sharma and skipper Suryakumar Yadav also departed soon.

However, a brilliant 108-run partnership between Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rinku Singh stabilized the Indian innings. Nitish Reddy, who scored 76 off 34 balls, showcased aggressive hitting, while Rinku Singh contributed 53 runs from 29 balls. After their partnership, Hardik Pandya further strengthened India’s score with a rapid 32 runs off 19 deliveries.

In Bangladesh’s bowling attack, Mustafizur Rahman and Tanzim Hasan picked crucial wickets, with Tanzim Hasan dismissing Abhishek Sharma and Rishad Hossain bagging three wickets in the final over against the run of play.

Bangladesh’s chase of 222 started on a challenging note. Parvez Hossain Emon was dismissed early by Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh, who celebrated with a fierce “death stare,” highlighting the intensity of the match.

Nitish Reddy was also effective with the ball, starting his bowling spell with a tight over that limited Bangladesh’s opening pair’s scoring opportunities. Bangladesh looked to make the most of the powerplay but lost wickets regularly.

India set its highest-ever T20I score against Bangladesh, beating their previous best of 196 for 5 made during the T20 World Cup 2024 in North Sound.
