India Vs Bangladesh Test 2024

The second Test match between India and Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur has entered an exciting phase as the fourth day of play concluded. After securing a lead of 52 runs in the first innings, India managed to restrict Bangladesh to 26/2 by stumps on the penultimate day. The visitors are still trailing by 26 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin, India’s talented off-spinner, played a pivotal role in limiting Bangladesh’s progress. He accounted for both wickets in the evening session, delivering a significant blow to the opposition. Ashwin first trapped Zakir Hasan leg before wicket (LBW), and despite a decision review system (DRS) challenge, Hasan departed for 10 runs. Shortly after, Ashwin bowled through Hasan Mahmood’s defense, dismissing him for four runs.

The Indian team is keen to conclude Bangladesh’s second innings swiftly on the final day, aiming for a victory. Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be focused on saving the match and avoiding a clean sweep by the hosts. At stumps, Shadman Islam was batting on seven, while Mominul Haque had yet to open his account.

Previously, India’s first innings saw significant contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 72 off 51 balls, and KL Rahul, who made a brisk 68. Virat Kohli also added 47 crucial runs. Bangladesh’s bowlers, led by Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan, who took four wickets each, managed to restrict India to 285/9 before the innings was declared.

Over the course of the match, the Indian team had to contend with interruptions due to rain, with no play possible on the second and third days. As a result, the contest seemed destined for a draw until the fourth day’s proceedings opened up the possibility of a result-oriented finish.
