India Clinches Dominant Victory Over Bangladesh in Second T20I
In the second T20I match between India and Bangladesh, a particular incident involving Indian cricketer Riyan Parag attracted attention when his unconventional bowling style led to a no-ball call. This occurred as Parag, attempting a sling action, landed his back foot outside the pitch tramlines during the 11th over of the game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
The delivery was declared a no-ball under Law 21.5 of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) rules, which states that a bowler’s back foot must land within the defined area. The umpire, after a couple of checks, confirmed Parag’s transgression, marking the delivery as a no-ball. Despite this, Parag managed to score 15 runs and took one wicket, contributing to India’s comprehensive victory.
India secured an 86-run win over Bangladesh, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. India amassed a formidable total of 222 runs, while Bangladesh managed only 135 runs in response. The Indian bowling attack was in top form, with each of the seven bowlers used by captain Suryakumar Yadav taking at least one wicket.
Sanju Samson, the Indian wicketkeeper, encouraged Parag in Bengali, saying “Khub bhalo” (very good) after he recovered from conceding a six to Mahmudullah and restricted the batters thereafter. Parag bowled two overs, giving away 16 runs and dismissing Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
India’s innings was bolstered by Nitish Kumar Reddy, who scored a maiden half-century, racking up 74 runs. He was supported by Rinku Singh, who also reached a half-century, contributing significantly to India’s commanding total with a 108-run partnership. Hardik Pandya also made a notable impact in the latter stages of the innings, scoring 32 off 19 balls.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, struggled with a poor start. Despite Mahmudullah’s attempt to stabilize the innings with his 41 runs, the team kept losing wickets. The visitors ended their innings at 135, failing to meet the challenging target set by India.
The third and final T20I is scheduled to take place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on October 12, where Bangladesh will aim to avoid a series whitewash.
