India U-19 Cricket Team Defeats USA U-19 by 201 Runs in U-19 World Cup 2024
India‘s under-19 cricket team showcased a dominant performance as they defeated the USA under-19 cricket team by a resounding 201 runs in a Group A match of the U-19 World Cup 2024. The match took place at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.
Having won the toss, the USA under-19 captain Rishi Ramesh elected to field first, giving India the opportunity to set a target. India’s innings started with a minor setback as opener Adarsh Singh failed to capitalize on his promising start. However, Arshin Kulkarni and Musheer Khan formed a formidable partnership, contributing 155 runs for the second wicket. Musheer Khan’s dismissal after scoring a commendable 73 runs did not hinder India’s progress. Arshin Kulkarni went on to score a brilliant century, totaling 108 runs, leading India to an imposing total of 326/5 in their allotted 50 overs.
In response, the USA under-19 team faced an uphill task of chasing down 327 runs. Unfortunately, their batting lineup struggled to keep up with the required run rate. Only Utkarsh Srivastava managed to put up some resistance, scoring 40 runs off 73 balls. However, India’s bowlers were in top form, with Naman Tiwari impressing by taking four wickets. As a result, the USA under-19 team could only reach 125/8 in their 50 overs, falling short by a massive 201 runs.
This comprehensive victory ensures India’s continued dominance in the U-19 World Cup. With three consecutive wins, India secures a spot in the Super 6 stage of the tournament. Their previous wins against Bangladesh and Ireland display their formidability in the competition.
The Indian players who stood out in the match include Adarsh Singh, Arshin Kulkarni, Musheer Khan, Uday Saharan, Naman Tiwari, and Saumy Pandey. The USA team struggled against the formidable Indian lineup, with notable performances by Utkarsh Srivastava, Rishi Ramesh, Ateendra Subramanian, Arya Garg, and Sachin Dhas.
