India Vs England 1st Test: Yashasvi Jaiswal's Brilliant Century Leads India's Strong Start In Hyderabad

India and England kicked off their five-match Test series in style as the first Test match began at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad. With Virat Kohli out of the initial two Tests due to personal reasons, India’s interim captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first. In a surprising move, coach Ravi Shastri handed over the wicketkeeping duties to KS Bharat, thus giving him a chance to showcase his skills. Young talent Dhruv Jurel had to wait for his debut as a result.

England’s decision to bat first after winning the toss brought a new style of aggressive cricket known as “Beige Ball Cricket,” named after England’s former Test captain Brendon McCullum. However, it was India who showcased some attacking batting on the first day in Hyderabad. Despite losing Rohit Sharma early, Yashasvi Jaiswal played a breathtaking innings, smashing a brilliant century in just 70 balls. His innings was filled with boundaries and sixes, displaying his immense talent and potential.

Rohit Sharma supported Jaiswal well with a solid knock of 24 runs before getting dismissed by Jack Leach‘s catch. The partnership between Jaiswal and Shubman Gill has brought stability to India’s innings, with the team ending the day at 119/1 in 23 overs, trailing England by 127 runs. Jaiswal’s incredible century and Gill’s resilience have put India in a good position going into the second day of the match.
