India Robinson Crowned World Surf League 2023 Challenger Series Champion

Jan Juc-based professional surfer India Robinson has emerged as the champion of the World Surf League 2023 Challenger Series. At the prestigious 2023 World Surf League (WSL) Awards held on January 28, Robinson was honored alongside the world’s top surfers.

The 23-year-old surfer secured her victory and claimed the coveted Challenger Series Champion title after attaining the first place ranking in the Challenger Series last year. She had a remarkable win against South African surfer Sarah Baum during the Corona Saquarema Pro in Brazil, making her mark on the global stage.

Taking to her Instagram account, Robinson expressed her joy and described the whole experience as “surreal.” She emphasized that the trophy not only signifies her win but also represents the immense hard work, unwavering commitment, and the ability to hold onto hope during the toughest of times. Her message conveyed a sense of motivation and determination as she looks forward to achieving more milestones in her career.

The WSL Challenger Series is comprised of six international events and serves as a stepping stone for surfers aiming to enter the elite competitions. The top five ranked women automatically secure their spots in the WSL Championship Tour. The 2024 Tour is scheduled to commence tomorrow on January 29, at Banzai Pipeline in O’ahu, Hawaii.

The road to success has not been an easy one for Robinson. Last year, she suffered a major concussion, which forced her to take time away from the sport. However, with the support of numerous individuals, she managed to make a remarkable recovery and now competes at her best. Robinson expressed her gratitude towards the army of individuals who stood by her side during her journey.
