ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — India extended its unbeaten run in the 2025 Asia Cup with a 21-run victory over Oman in their final group match on September 19. The victory secured India’s top position in Group A, while Oman exited the tournament winless.

Defending champions India batted first, posting 188 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson emerged as the star for India, scoring 56 runs off 45 balls. He formed crucial partnerships with Abhishek Sharma (38 off 15) and Axar Patel (26 off 13), helping India set a formidable total. Oman’s Faisal Shah was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 wickets for 23 runs.

In response, Oman started confidently but lost quick wickets. Jatinder Singh contributed 32 runs, but it was Aamir Kaleem’s 64 off 46 that kept Oman in contention. Kaleem built a 93-run partnership with Hammad Mirza (51 off 33), raising hopes of a shocking victory. However, India’s Hardik Pandya cleaved through Oman’s momentum by taking key wickets, including Kaleem in the 18th over.

Arshdeep Singh, who became the first Indian bowler to reach 100 wickets in T20 internationals, took the final wicket of Vinayak Shukla to seal the win. The Super Four stage begins on September 20, with India set to face Pakistan in their first match.
