Colombo, Sri LankaIndia Women defeated South Africa Women by 15 runs on April 29, 2025, in the second match of the Sri Lanka Women’s ODI Tri-Series at R Premadasa Stadium. India scored 276 runs for 6 wickets, with Pratika Rawal contributing 78 runs and Harmanpreet Kaur finishing not out at 41.

South Africa, chasing the target, started strong but faltered after losing key player Tazmin Brits, who retired hurt due to cramping on 109 runs. With South Africa at 170 for 2 in the 33rd over, the situation quickly deteriorated as they lost eight wickets for just 80 runs, finishing their innings at 261 all out.

“Tazmin’s injury was a turning point,” said South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt. “We were in control until then, but it started a collapse that we couldn’t recover from.”

India set their total thanks to strong performances, including 41 runs from Jemimah Rodrigues and a quick-fire 24 runs from Richa Ghosh in the final overs. The Indian bowlers maintained discipline, conceding only two wides compared to South Africa’s 13.

“This win boosts our confidence,” said Rana, the player of the match. “We are looking forward to the final matches of the series.” With this victory, India secured their second consecutive win in the series, placing them at the top of the points table.
