Indiana Fever 2025 Wnba Roster Additions

INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 30, 2025) — The Indiana Fever, fresh off their first WNBA playoff appearance since 2016, have made significant offseason moves aimed at transforming the team into a championship contender. With the addition of seasoned veterans and strategic trades, the Fever are poised to make a deep postseason run in the 2025 season.

The Fever’s core, led by back-to-back WNBA Rookie of the Year winners Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, along with veteran Kelsey Mitchell, has been bolstered by the acquisitions of guard/forward DeWanna Bonner, forward Natasha Howard, and forward Sophie Cunningham. Bonner and Howard signed as free agents, while Cunningham was acquired in a four-way trade that also sent forward Damiris Dantas to the Atlanta Dream.

Bonner, a 37-year-old veteran entering her 16th season, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record, having won two championships with the Phoenix Mercury and reaching the 2022 WNBA Finals with the Connecticut Sun. Howard, a former WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, returns to the Fever after stints with the Seattle Storm and New York Liberty, where she won three championships. Cunningham, known for her gritty play and 3-point shooting, adds depth and versatility to the roster.

“Faster is Clark’s favorite speed, and she rewards players who get up and down the court,” said Fever coach Stephanie White. “These additions not only address our defensive needs but also provide consistent scoring threats from the wing.”

The Fever also secured Mitchell’s return with a one-year deal after she received a core designation from the team. Mitchell, an unrestricted free agent, has been a cornerstone of the franchise for seven seasons.

In addition to their roster moves, the Fever announced an exciting preseason game against the Brazilian National Team at the University of Iowa on May 4. The game will mark the first time the Fever play at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, where Clark, the No. 1 draft pick and former Hawkeye, made her mark in college basketball. The arena will also retire Clark’s No. 22 jersey on Feb. 2.

The Fever’s 2025 season will officially begin on May 17 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse against the Chicago Sky. Last season, the team finished 20-20 and lost in the first round of the playoffs, but with their new additions, they aim to build on their momentum and compete for a championship.
