Inter Milan Faces Fiorentina In A High Stakes Serie A Clash

Inter Milan and Fiorentina are set to face each other in a highly anticipated Serie A match at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. With both teams vying for crucial positions in the league standings, the stakes are high for victory.

Inter Milan, currently occupying second place in the Serie A table, have the opportunity to regain the top spot with a win. On the other hand, Fiorentina, aiming to reclaim the fourth position, are forced into making a late change to their lineup, particularly in their midfield.

Due to suspensions, Inter Milan will be without Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicoló Barella for this match. Additionally, Juan Cuadrado is sidelined with an injury. As a result, the Nerazzurri will field a revamped midfield consisting of Davide Frattesi and Kristjan Asllani. Furthermore, Carlos Augusto will replace the injured Federico Dimarco on the left side of the field.

Alessandro Bastoni, who recently recovered from a muscular injury, returns to bolster Inter Milan’s defense. Meanwhile, Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez will lead the team’s attacking front, as usual.

Fiorentina also faces some challenges for this important clash. Captain Cristiano Biraghi is suspended, and several players including Gaetano Castrovilli, Dodo, and Oliver Christensen are nursing injuries. Christian Kouame is currently participating in the Africa Cup of Nations. However, Nico Gonzalez, who recently recovered from a thigh strain, is available and will start on the bench. Josip Brekalo, who is set to join Hajduk Split, has been left out of the squad.

In terms of the starting lineup, Fiorentina was initially expected to include Riccardo Sottil, but he was replaced by M’Bala Nzola after failing a fitness test.

It is worth mentioning that these two teams clashed in the Coppa Italia Final last season, while Inter Milan emerged victorious with a 4-0 win at San Siro in September.
