Inter Milan Vs Monza Serie A Match Highlights

MILAN, Italy — Inter Milan overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat Monza 3-2 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium on March 8, 2025, maintaining their place at the top of the Serie A standings.

Monza shocked the home crowd early, with Samuele Birindelli opening the scoring in the 32nd minute. Keita Balde doubled Monza’s lead just before halftime, leaving Inter trailing 2-0 at the break. However, the tide turned as Marko Arnautovic found the net just moments before halftime, providing a glimmer of hope for the home side.

“It was crucial to score before the break. It gave us the momentum we needed for the second half,” Arnautovic said.

Emerging with renewed determination after the break, Inter equalized in the 64th minute through Hakan Calhanoglu, whose powerful shot from the edge of the box found the back of the net.

The comeback was completed in the 77th minute when Lautaro Martinez scored the decisive goal with a header, lifting Inter to a 3-2 victory. This marked Martinez’s 11th goal of the season.

“We showed our character today. It was an important victory for us to stay ahead in the title race,” Martinez stated after the match.

Inter’s coach Simone Inzaghi hailed his team’s fighting spirit and strong second-half performance, despite facing adversity when a Lautaro Martinez goal was disallowed by VAR just before Monza scored their first. “We have faced challenges this season, but our resilience is what sets us apart,” Inzaghi noted.

This win extends Inter’s lead at the top of the Serie A table to four points ahead of second-placed Napoli, who play on Sunday. Meanwhile, Monza remains at the bottom of the league, seeking their first win since mid-January.

“We need to regroup and find a way to turn our season around,” Monza coach Alessandro Nesta commented post-match.

Inter now shifts focus to their upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Feyenoord Rotterdam on March 11, with hopes of carrying today’s momentum into Europe’s premier competition.
