Iowa Vs Ucla Basketball Game 2025

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The Iowa Hawkeyes (12-5, 3-3 Big Ten) will face the UCLA Bruins (11-6, 2-4 Big Ten) in a pivotal men’s basketball matchup Friday night at Pauley Pavilion. The game, set to tip off at 8 p.m. CT, will be broadcast nationally on FS1 and streamed online.

Iowa, led by head coach Fran McCaffery, is looking to bounce back from a 99-89 loss to USC earlier this week. UCLA, meanwhile, is struggling with a four-game losing streak, including three losses on the road. Despite recent setbacks, the Bruins remain a formidable opponent, ranking 11th nationally in defensive efficiency.

“They play hard, they play defense, they compete,” McCaffery said of UCLA during a press conference. “They have a number of different weapons, both in the starting lineup and off the bench.”

UCLA’s defense has been its strength this season, forcing turnovers on 25.1% of opponent possessions, the best mark in the country. However, the Bruins have struggled offensively, ranking 100th in offensive efficiency and 17th in Big Ten-only games. Their shooting woes include a 29.5% success rate from beyond the arc in conference play.

Iowa, on the other hand, boasts a deep rotation with 10 players averaging at least nine minutes per game. Forward Tyler Bilodeau leads the team in scoring (14.4 ppg) and rebounding (5.1 rpg), while Eric Dailey provides additional firepower with 11.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Guard Kobe Johnson, a USC transfer, has been a versatile contributor, leading the team in rebounds (5.7 rpg), assists (3.2 apg), and steals (2.0 spg).

The game will be a test of Iowa’s ability to handle UCLA’s aggressive defense and capitalize on the Bruins’ offensive struggles. With both teams fighting to improve their conference standings, Friday’s matchup promises to be a high-stakes battle.
