Iowa State Football Injury News

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State University (ISU) football is grappling with a significant injury crisis as they prepare for their matchup against Cincinnati on Saturday, October 4. The Cyclones, ranked No. 12 and boasting a 5-0 record and 2-0 in the Big 12 Conference, will be without several key players, including safety Khijohnn Cummings-Coleman.

In Thursday’s injury report, Cummings-Coleman was joined by wide receiver Carson Brown, defensive back Cam Smith, and tight end Vince Benetti, who were all downgraded to ‘out’ for the game. This brings the total number of players unavailable for Iowa State to 16.

Despite the loss of multiple starters, cornerback David Coffey has been upgraded from questionable to probable for the game. Additionally, Domonique Orange has been removed from the availability report and is set to play against the Bearcats.

The injury situation may impact ISU’s strategy as they face Cincinnati, who has recorded a 3-1 record and 1-0 in their conference. The Bearcats are also contending with injuries, as they have listed nine players out and one questionable.

The updated injury list was released on Friday, October 3, just a day before the highly anticipated clash at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati. The Cyclones will be looking to maintain their perfect season despite these setbacks.

“We have to adapt and find ways to overcome these challenges,” said Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell. “The next men up will need to step up and contribute.” With the stakes high, Iowa State fans are eager to see how the team responds amid the adversity.
