Ireland, after winning the toss and electing to bowl, saw the West Indies start off slowly, reaching 181 for 6 in 33 overs. The West Indies lost their final wicket after a tumultuous chase, with Matthews’s exit proving detrimental, as she retired hurt with a knock of 95 runs.

Despite their efforts, Ireland was unable to meet the target, finishing at 176 all out in 39 overs. Gaby Lewis, the captain of Ireland, managed to score 44 runs but could not lead her team to victory, succumbing to Baig’s bowling.

“We put up a good fight; however, we need to improve our performance in crucial moments,” said Ireland’s coach after the disappointing loss.
