Isaiah Stewart to Miss Third Straight Game for Pistons

DETROIT — Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart will miss his third consecutive game today due to right knee inflammation. The Pistons are currently trailing the New York Knicks 2-1 in their first-round playoff series, heading into Game 4 at Little Caesars Arena at 1 p.m. ET.
Stewart last played in the fourth quarter of Game 1 on April 19, where he contributed 19 minutes off the bench before leaving due to injury. His absence has been felt, as the Pistons struggle without his defensive presence and physicality in the paint. Coach J.B. Bickerstaff noted the importance of protecting Stewart’s health moving forward.
“It would be really difficult to put him in this situation,” Bickerstaff said of Stewart’s continued absence.
Stewart’s injury issues began before the playoffs, initially sidelining him during the end of the regular season. He was downgraded from being available in Game 2 and remains day-to-day, with his status undefined heading into future games.
In addition to Stewart, the Pistons are also without Jaden Ivey, who is recovering from a broken left fibula. Meanwhile, center Robinson has been cleared for practice after an illness and may participate in today’s game.
The focal point for the Pistons now shifts to Jalen Duren and backup Paul Reed, who will need to step up in Stewart’s absence as they aim to even the series against the Knicks.
Game 5 is scheduled for Tuesday night in New York.
