Jacoby Brissett Throws for 826 Yards in 2024 Season
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Jacoby Brissett, the veteran quarterback for the New England Patriots, concluded the 2024 NFL season with 95 completions on 161 passing attempts for 826 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception across eight games. Brissett also added 15 carries for 62 yards during the season, showcasing his dual-threat capabilities.
Brissett started the first five games of the season, leading the Patriots to a 1-4 record before rookie first-round pick Drake Maye took over as the starting quarterback. Despite his limited playing time, Brissett’s experience and leadership were valuable assets to the team during a transitional year.
The 31-year-old quarterback is now eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. While there is a possibility he could remain with the Patriots in a backup role, the team may opt to develop 2024 sixth-round pick Joe Milton as Maye’s primary backup. If Brissett does not return to New England, he could become an attractive option for other teams seeking a reliable and experienced No. 2 quarterback.
Brissett’s performance in 2024 highlighted his ability to step in and manage games effectively, even in a limited role. His career has been marked by resilience and adaptability, having played for multiple teams since entering the league in 2016. Whether he stays in New England or moves on, Brissett’s experience will continue to be a valuable asset in the NFL.
