Jaemyn Brakefield Recognized for Community Service Excellence Again

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ole Miss forward Jaemyn Brakefield has been named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team for the third consecutive season, the league office announced Thursday. The senior earned this recognition for his impactful work in the Oxford community during his time as a student-athlete.
Brakefield’s commitment to community service is evident through various initiatives. Among his notable contributions is his involvement with the Ashley Homestore‘s Hope to Dream event, where he helped deliver 50 bed sets to children in Tunica, Quitman, and Lafayette counties. Brakefield also plays a significant role in promoting literacy across Mississippi, participating in the ‘Reading With the Rebels’ program, where student-athletes read to local elementary school students.
In addition, Brakefield supported the Willie Price Lab School during their Spirit Day, engaging with students leading up to their homecoming. He collaborated with CASA of North Mississippi for their Superhero 5K run, which raises funds for various initiatives throughout the year. Furthermore, Brakefield contributed to CASA’s ‘Adopt-A-Child’ program by providing Christmas gifts for foster children.
Brakefield remains active with the ‘Feed the Sip’ project, a food sustainability event within the Stronger Together MS Initiative. His efforts helped collect over 14,000 non-perishable food items for elementary students in Tunica and Quitman counties. He has also participated in ‘Adopt a Basket,’ assisting in distributing over 100 Thanksgiving baskets to families in need in the Lafayette-Oxford-University community.
“It’s an honor to be recognized for my contributions to the community,” said Brakefield. “Being able to give back is important to me, and I hope to inspire others to do the same.”
Beyond his community efforts, Brakefield has leveraged his Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) earnings to support a childhood friend and member of his non-blood family from West Virginia. His commitment to uplifting youth in his community showcases not only his athletic talent but also his dedication to making a positive impact.
Brakefield’s continued recognition as a member of the SEC Community Service Team reflects both his excellence on the court and his commitment to service off the court. His contributions have made a significant difference in the lives of many across Mississippi.
