Travis Hunter Jr. Jacksonville Jaguars Knee Injury

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without rookie standout Travis Hunter Jr. for the remainder of the season following knee surgery. Hunter underwent the procedure on Tuesday to repair a torn Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL) in his knee.

Hunter, the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft, suffered the injury during practice on October 30, just before Halloween. Initially placed on injured reserve, the team hoped he might return later in the season. However, a follow-up on the injury led to surgery, confirming his absence for the season.

“You just feel bad for the guy, for the kid, for our team, for everything,” Jaguars coach Liam Coen said. “But he’s in good spirits right now. Minor setback for a major comeback. That’s just the way it’s gotta be.” Hunter is expected to return to football activities in six months, just in time for next season.

This season, Hunter made a significant impact both offensively and defensively. He recorded 28 receptions for 298 yards and a touchdown as a wide receiver, while also tallying 11 tackles and three pass breakups as a defensive back. His seven games featured standout performances, including a season-high eight receptions for 101 yards in a loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

With Hunter’s absence, the Jaguars will rely more heavily on their other offensive players. They recently acquired veteran receiver Jakobi Meyers to help fill the gap left by Hunter and starter Brian Thomas Jr., who is sidelined with an ankle injury. The Jaguars, currently 5-4, are looking to maintain their playoff hopes as they prepare for their next game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
