Jaguars Sign Veteran Lineman Patrick Mekari to Three-Year Deal

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars have bolstered their offensive line by signing veteran guard Patrick Mekari to a three-year contract reportedly worth up to $39 million. The deal was confirmed on March 10, 2025, by sources close to the team.
Mekari, 27, spent the 2024 season with the Baltimore Ravens, starting all 17 games and playing 90 percent of the offensive snaps. A versatile player, Mekari is capable of playing all five positions on the offensive line, which the Jaguars aim to capitalize on as they seek to provide better protection for quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Originally an undrafted free agent in 2019, Mekari has built a steady career in the NFL. Over six seasons, he has appeared in 88 games with 53 starts. He earned a ranking of No. 71 on Pro Football Talk‘s list of the top 100 free agents for 2025.
In 2024, Mekari primarily played at left guard, filling a crucial role on a Ravens offensive line that overcame early season struggles. However, his performance metrics indicate that he had a mixed season, finishing with the 50th-best grade out of 76 eligible guards. This ranking is attributed in part to his experience playing out of position.
“I’m excited to join the Jaguars and help elevate their offense,” Mekari said in a statement. “I know what it takes to succeed in this league, and I’m ready to bring my skills and leadership to Jacksonville.”
The Jaguars’ decision to sign Mekari comes on the heels of a proactive offseason strategy to improve the team’s offensive line. In addition to Mekari, they have made multiple signings in hopes of upgrading their front. This effort is crucial as Lawrence enters his third NFL season under new head coach Liam Coen.
Despite his weaknesses, including a significant penalty count—14 accepted penalties last season—Mekari offers the Jaguars a strong presence. The team aims to reduce these penalties as part of their strategy moving forward.
With Mekari’s signing, Jaguars fans can expect an adaptable lineman who could step in and start at any position. His experience and versatility establish him as a key player in Jacksonville’s offensive ambitions as they look to contend in the upcoming season.
