Jailed Gangster Politician Mukhtar Ansari's Death Brings Closure To Victim's Family

Jailed gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari passed away at a hospital in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday, sparking mixed emotions among those closely connected to the notorious figure.

Speaking after his demise, Alka Rai, the wife of slain BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai, expressed relief and gratitude, stating, ‘This is the blessing of the Almighty. I used to pray to him for justice, and it has been served today.’

Alka Rai, who had refrained from celebrating Holi since her husband’s tragic murder, remarked that the day of Ansari’s death felt like Holi for their family.

Mayawati, the Bahujan Samaj Party Chief, urged a high-level investigation into Ansari’s death following claims made by his family, stressing the importance of revealing the truth surrounding the circumstances.

Security measures were ramped up in various districts of Uttar Pradesh following Ansari’s demise, with the Director General of Police implementing prohibitive orders and deploying CRPF teams in key areas.

Restrictions were placed under Section 144 of the CrPC across the state, prompting heightened vigilance in regions like Banda, Mau, Ghazipur, and Varanasi as Ansari’s death resonated through communities.

Reflecting on the security protocols, Ghazipur SP Omvir Singh assured the public of ample police presence and maintained crowd control in the wake of the news.
