Jalen Williams Defends Oklahoma City Thunder’s Post-Game Celebrations Against Draymond Green’s Criticism
In the latest controversy to hit the NBA, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Jalen Williams has responded to critical remarks made by Golden State Warriors alum Draymond Green regarding the Thunder’s unique post-game celebrations. Green, a four-time NBA champion, expressed his opinion on his podcast, “The Draymond Green Show,” suggesting that the Thunder’s celebratory acts, which include players barking and huddling together during post-game interviews, do not instill the necessary fear in opposing teams to be considered a serious championship contender.
Green stated, “There’s a certain seriousness that it takes to win in this league, and there’s a certain fear you have to instill in teams in order to win. I just don’t know if they’re instilling that fear in teams with all the bromance and stuff after the game.”
However, Jalen Williams took a relaxed stance on Green’s comments. During an interview, Williams mentioned, “You probably gotta ask them. I don’t know. I don’t really focus on other teams or what they’re doing until we play them. We’re going to continue to do it… We enjoy it. I feel like it’s kinda weird to have a strong opinion on it.”
Williams’ response was echoed by other Thunder players, with some defending the team’s camaraderie and others downplaying the significance of Green’s remarks. Lu Dort, another prominent player, labeled Green’s comments as “a comment like any other comment on TV.”
Despite the controversy, the Oklahoma City Thunder has been performing exceptionally well this season, leading the league in defensive metrics such as blocks, steals, and defensive rating. This strong performance has solidified their position as a top contender, even with key players like Isaiah Hartenstein, Jaylin Williams, and Kenrich Williams currently sidelined due to injuries.
