Jalen Wilson Benilde St. Margaret’s Basketball Game

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. — Jalen Wilson scored 32 points to lead No. 1-ranked Benilde-St. Margaret’s to a 78-68 victory over St. Louis Park on Tuesday, extending the Red Knights’ undefeated streak to 9-0 this season.

Wilson, a Northern Iowa commit, dominated on both ends of the court, helping his team maintain its top ranking in Class 3A. The Red Knights’ victory came despite a strong effort from St. Louis Park, which was missing three key starters due to injuries.

“We collectively decided that defense has to be our emphasis this year,” Wilson said. “Offense for us has never really been a true problem, but on the defensive end, we figured it out.”

Benilde-St. Margaret’s has shown significant improvement from last season, when they started 3-0 before losing six straight games. This year, the team has focused on shoring up its defense, a weakness in previous seasons.

St. Louis Park struggled without the contributions of twins Marley and Micah Curtis, both North Dakota commits, and senior guard Rashaad Kimber. The trio had been averaging over 50 points per game combined. Sophomore Matthew Johnson stepped up with a breakout performance, leading the Orioles with 21 points.

The Red Knights will aim for their 10th consecutive win when they face Chanhassen on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
