DENVER, Colo. — Jamal Murray led the Denver Nuggets to a decisive 126-103 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night at Ball Arena, showcasing his versatility and growth both on and off the court. Murray, who scored 21 points and dished out nine assists, has been navigating a season of personal and professional development, including embracing fatherhood and learning to play alongside new teammates.

Murray, whose daughter recently turned 18 months old, shared how fatherhood has influenced his perspective. “It means everything. She’s getting big. (She’s) a year and a half now, so she’s starting to understand a lot of different things,” Murray said. “Soon, she’ll be out there and able to have the strength to get the ball to the hoop. Those will be fun times.”

On the court, Murray has been adapting to playing alongside Russell Westbrook, who started his eighth consecutive game in place of the injured Aaron Gordon. Westbrook contributed 19 points and eight assists, and the duo is beginning to find their rhythm. “Jamal is really good at catching and shooting and playing off the ball. I find ways to be able to try to make the game easier for him,” Westbrook said. “He’s doing a great job of learning me a little more, playing with better pace.”

The Nuggets were also without two-time MVP Nikola Jokic, who missed his second straight game due to illness. DeAndre Jordan stepped into the starting lineup for the first time this season, providing a different dynamic for Murray to navigate. “With Jok, it’s just more reading the coverage and what they’re going to do whereas with DJ, I’m looking to get in an area where they can’t guard everybody,” Murray explained.

Off the court, Murray is tackling another challenge: learning Japanese. He and Jordan have been using the Duolingo app, with Murray on a 93-day streak. “He’s actually taking like real classes,” Murray joked about Jordan’s dedication. Despite the frustrations of learning a new language and adjusting to new teammates, Murray remains focused on growth. “I’ve been frustrated, just missing some good looks. It felt good to hit a couple like that,” he said after hitting back-to-back 3-pointers.

The win improved the Nuggets’ record to 28-12, keeping them in contention for the top seed in the Western Conference. As Murray continues to evolve as a player, father, and teammate, his journey reflects the resilience and adaptability required to succeed at the highest level.
