James Rodríguez In Action For León In Liga Mx

LEÓN, México — Colombian star James Rodríguez continues to shine in Mexican football as Club León remains undefeated at the top of Liga MX following five consecutive victories. This Saturday, León will host Toluca, a team currently in sixth place with eight points, in a crucial match that could extend their leadership.

León’s impressive start has been fueled by Rodríguez, who was appointed team captain shortly after his arrival. The midfielder has played in four of the five matches since joining the club, contributing one goal and one assist in 281 minutes on the field. Rodríguez also played a key role in a penalty decision, showcasing his influence on the team’s offensive plays.

León coach Eduardo Berizzo emphasized the importance of maintaining focus ahead of the Toluca match. “Leading the table is more anecdotal; what matters is analyzing our performance,” Berizzo said. “The team has understood the message, and we need a strong mentality. Sometimes, winning even when not playing perfectly is a good sign. We aim for the sixth win on Saturday.”

In a recent interview with TUDN, Rodríguez expressed cautious optimism about León’s form. “There’s still a long way to go, but we’re in a good phase with five wins. Now, we’re focusing on Saturday’s tough match,” he said.

Toluca midfielder Franco Romero downplayed Rodríguez’s individual impact, stating, “He’s a great player, but he’s still one of 11. We also have 11 players, and I believe we can play a good game and win.”

León’s squad also features fellow Colombian players Édgar Guerra, Stiven Barreiro, and Stiven Mendoza, adding depth to their roster. The match against Toluca will test León’s ability to maintain their unbeaten streak and solidify their position as league leaders.
