Jaqueline Cavalcanti Preps for Fight in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, Nevada — Portugal’s Jaqueline Cavalcanti is gearing up for a pivotal bantamweight matchup against former title contender Mayra Bueno Silva on Saturday night at the UFC APEX. With an unbeaten record and a seven-fight winning streak, Cavalcanti aims to prove herself against a seasoned opponent.
Unlike many who visit Las Vegas for relaxation and excitement, Cavalcanti has made the city her home for training. “Here in Las Vegas, it’s training, sleeping, eating, and training; just this,” she stated, emphasizing her focused lifestyle away from the distractions that often plague visitors. Since moving to the city two years ago, she has concentrated on honing her skills and advancing her career.
Her dedication has paid off, with Cavalcanti climbing to No. 11 in the bantamweight rankings. This Saturday’s fight is significant for her as she prepares to face Bueno Silva, who she acknowledges as one of the top fighters in the division. “For me, fighting Mayra, I see her before I started in MMA, and now is the best moment in my career,” Cavalcanti shared excitedly.
Bueno Silva, who has struggled in her recent fights, is also eager to reclaim her footing in the division after facing high-caliber opponents. Cavalcanti recognizes the importance of this fight, calling it a “big step for my career.” She is determined to leverage her preparation and seize this opportunity.
The bantamweight division has shifted since the retirement of former champion Amanda Nunes, opening doors for new talent. Cavalcanti is among those looking to climb the ranks. “I have to climb the mountain,” she said about her approach, acknowledging the experience of those in the top tier of the division.
With her eyes on the championship, Cavalcanti is focused on continuous improvement and training at Syndicate MMA. “Everybody that has watched my fights thinks the same: ‘You’ll take the belt in a couple of years,’” she expressed with hope. “To make this happen, I need to have my mind strong, train well, and have the best people around me.”
Fans can tune in to the event live from UFC APEX in Las Vegas on November 8, 2025, with prelims starting at 4 p.m. ET.
