Jaxson Robinson Kentucky Basketball Wrist Surgery

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Jaxson Robinson‘s collegiate basketball career with the Kentucky Wildcats came to an abrupt end as head coach Mark Pope announced today that Robinson will undergo surgery on his right wrist next week. This procedure will require a recovery period of approximately three months, effectively sidelining the senior for the remainder of the season.

Robinson sustained the injury during a practice session on February 10, colliding with his teammate Brandon Garrison. Following a brief attempt to return for the game at Oklahoma, he was unable to continue due to increased pain. After further medical assessments, doctors revealed a torn sub-sheath to his ECU tendon, necessitating surgical intervention.

<p“Jax is — we kind of came to the final conclusion last night that he’s going to get surgery,” Pope said. “He’s going Wednesday to the world specialist to have surgery on his wrist. It’s slipping out, and after the hit, it actually relocated a little more, and there’s just no way that he’s gonna be able to play.”

Pope added, “The good news is that he’ll go have the surgery with literally the world’s number one surgeon. It’s a three-month recovery to full health, allowing him to resume his basketball career by early June.”

This season, Robinson averaged 13.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists over 24 games, including a season-high 27 points against Mississippi State on January 11. Before joining Kentucky, he transferred from Texas A&M to Arkansas and then played two seasons at BYU under Pope.

Robinson is slated to participate in Kentucky’s Senior Night ceremonies on Tuesday prior to the game against LSU before heading to surgery. “I’m sure he’ll get quite an ovation from the Big Blue Nation for his efforts this season,” Pope expressed.

Reflecting on his time at Kentucky, Robinson shared, “It’s been such a beautiful journey. Being able to play for a coach who believed in me, even when I wasn’t at the top, it’s been really cool just to be with a great guy, a great coach, like Coach Pope.”

As Robinson leaves the lineup, the Wildcats will now look to Koby Brea to step into a starting role, alongside contributions from teammates Trent Noah, Travis Perry, and Ansley Almonor to fill the void.

This story will continue to evolve as Kentucky navigates the rest of the season without Robinson.
