Jayden Daniels Makes Historic Debut with Washington Commanders
Jayden Daniels, the highly touted American football quarterback, has been making waves in the NFL since his debut with the Washington Commanders. Selected second overall in the 2024 NFL draft, Daniels has already set several records and achieved significant milestones in his rookie season.
Daniels, who played college football for Arizona State and LSU, won the 2023 Heisman Trophy after an outstanding season with the LSU Tigers. He led the FBS in total yards and set the single-season passer rating record, among other accolades. His transition to the NFL has been nothing short of impressive.
In his NFL debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Daniels became the first NFL quarterback to rush for over 80 yards with two touchdowns in his first game. He followed this up by winning his first game the following week against the New York Giants. In Week 3, Daniels was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week after achieving a 91.3% completion percentage on 23 attempts, along with 293 total yards and three touchdowns in a Monday Night Football win against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Daniels continued to break records, becoming the first player to complete at least 85 percent of his passes in consecutive games. He was also named Offensive Rookie of the Month for September, having completed the highest percentage of passes (82.1) over a four-game span in NFL history, with more scoring drives led (23) than incomplete passes thrown (19).
Daniels signed a four-year rookie contract worth $37.75 million fully guaranteed with the Washington Commanders and has quickly become a key figure in the team’s offense. His performance has been a highlight of the early NFL season, and he is expected to continue making significant contributions to the Commanders.
