Jaylen Reed Nfl Draft Highlights 2025

HOUSTON, Texas – The Houston Texans have selected Penn State safety Jaylen Reed in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, marking the 187th overall pick.

Reed, measuring 6 feet tall and weighing 211 pounds, established himself as a standout player at Penn State. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.49 seconds during the NFL Scouting Combine, showcasing the speed that contributed to his successful college career.

In his final season with the Nittany Lions, Reed started all 16 games at safety. He concluded the year with 98 tackles, including 6.5 for loss, three interceptions, and 2.5 sacks, solidifying his reputation as a versatile and impactful defender.

“I knew that was something I was capable of doing my whole time,” Reed said, referring to his combine performance. “It definitely helped me and helped my stock.”

Reed’s performance caught the attention of NFL scouts, especially after he excelled in various roles on the field, including in the box and as a slot defender. His ability to blitz effectively complements his natural instincts in coverage.

The Texans have made Reed their second defensive back acquisition in this draft, demonstrating their commitment to strengthening their secondary. During his college career, Reed achieved a total of five interceptions over multiple seasons.

Reed’s skill set suggests he may find an early role with the Texans, where he has the potential to make an immediate impact. The team is looking forward to adding his talents to their defensive lineup.
