Salt Lake City, Utah – The Utah Jazz welcomed back Lauri Markkanen for their upcoming game against the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday after he recovered from a minor right groin injury. Markkanen, who has been a standout this season, averaging a career-high 27.8 points per game, was seen arriving at Delta Center dressed as Marv Murchins from the popular holiday film series, ‘Home Alone,’ alongside team vice president Erik Phillips, who portrayed Harry Lyme.

Markkanen had missed the last two games due to injury management, which included a home game against the Los Angeles Lakers and another against the Orlando Magic. His return comes as a significant boost for the Jazz, who are looking to bounce back from their recent losses. ‘Having Lauri back in the lineup is crucial for us,’ said head coach Will Hardy. ‘He’s been a key contributor and a leader on the court.’

This season, Markkanen has also collected an average of 7.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, while shooting 46.9% from the field and 35.9% from three-point range. His performance has been pivotal in helping the Jazz achieve a better-than-expected start, following a disappointing last season.

Alongside Markkanen in the starting lineup will be Ace Bailey and Jusuf Nurkic, while Kyle Filipowski will likely move to the bench after filling in during Markkanen’s absence. However, the Jazz will still be without Kevin Love, who is resting.

The Nuggets, on the other hand, are dealing with their own injury challenges. Both Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun are sidelined until after the holidays, and Peyton Watson is questionable with a minor contusion. The game is set to tip off at 7 p.m. MT at Ball Arena, where the Jazz hope to contend against one of the top teams in the Western Conference.
