Utah Jazz Vs Toronto Raptors Basketball Game

TORONTO, Canada – March 7, 2025 – The Utah Jazz are set to face the Toronto Raptors tonight as they look to break a three-game losing streak. Center Walker Kessler is expected to return after sitting out for rest in the previous game against the Washington Wizards. Kessler’s return is crucial for the struggling Jazz, who currently have a dismal record of 15-47, the worst in the Western Conference.

In his last ten games, Kessler averaged 13.5 points, 14.4 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, and 2.1 assists per game. His presence in the lineup will likely see him reclaim his starting position from rookie Kyle Filipowski, who has been a bright spot for the Jazz during Kessler’s absence.

Filipowski has turned heads with his performances, most notably in the last game against the Wizards where he scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, shooting nearly 59% from the field. The young forward’s impressive runs have come at a time when the Jazz’s veteran players are sidelined with injuries.

“I just want to help the team in any way I can,” Filipowski said after his standout game. “With our veterans out, it’s on us young guys to step up.”

As the Jazz approach tonight’s matchup, they also face a Raptors team that has shown resilience, winning three of their last six games. Both teams, however, are underperforming this season, each sitting in the bottom five of their respective conferences.

Toronto holds a record of 20-42, placing them 13th in the Eastern Conference. The Raptors are favored for tonight’s face-off, largely due to their recent winning streak and home-court advantage at Scotiabank Arena.

“This is a critical time for both teams,” noted Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic. “We need to build momentum, and we can’t underestimate Utah. They’ve got some talented players.”

The Jazz have lost three straight games, returning from a disappointing defeat against the Wizards, while the Raptors have been building their confidence with back-to-back wins over the Orlando Magic. The game is expected to showcase rising stars such as Filipowski and Toronto’s Ja'Kobe Walter, who has also been emerging as a significant contributor for the Raptors.

The matchup is significant not only for the current standings but also as both teams aim for favorable lottery positions in the upcoming NBA Draft.

Tip-off for the game is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, and fans can catch the action on Sportsnet.
