The absence of Birch Run Speedway from the original JEGS Tour schedule for 2024 raised eyebrows among fans and teams alike. However, both the Champion Racing Association and the Birch Run Speedway management have joined forces to ensure that Birch Run will once again host a standout template late model contest.

Birch Run Speedway’s history with the JEGS Tour dates back to the inaugural season of Pro Late Model racing for the Champion Racing Association. The first contest took place in June 2011, with Eddie Hoffman emerging victorious over Chad Finley and Josh Nelms. Since then, Birch Run has become a staple on the schedule, with memorable wins from top drivers such as Erik Jones, Daniel Hemric, Cody Coughlin, Dan Leeck, and Johnny Vandoorn.

In 2018, Birch Run Speedway hosted two races, including the prestigious Masters of the Pros event. Bubba Pollard claimed the victory on that day, triumphing over Johnny VanDoorn and Jack Dossey III. The following year, Birch Run returned to a single race format, with VanDoorn securing another win. The subsequent years showcased intense racing action with winners including Coughlin, Kyle Crump, Carson Hocevar, Ethan Stadniczuk, and Chase Burda.

The addition of Birch Run Speedway to the 2024 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance posed a slight challenge due to changes in management at the Speedway. Nevertheless, the significance of a JEGS Tour event combined with Birch Run’s rich history and reputation for hosting dramatic and thrilling races warranted finding a way to include the Speedway once again.

Positioned between the Masters of the Pros 185 at Owosso Speedway and The Owosso Nationals, Birch Run Speedway’s upcoming date serves as a crucial event in Michigan before the Tour moves to Winchester Speedway for the Season Championship night on October 11th. This race provides drivers with an excellent opportunity to make strategic moves in the championship points standings, potentially allowing them to regain or expand their lead.
