Winnipeg Jets Vs New Jersey Devils Hockey Game

NEWARK, N.J. — The Winnipeg Jets (43-16-4) look to build on their recent triumph as they take on the New Jersey Devils (33-24-6) on March 7, 2025, at Prudential Center. Coming off a decisive 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers, the Jets hope to continue their momentum.

The previous night’s victory broke a three-game winless stretch for the Jets, with Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor, and Gabriel Vilardi each contributing to a combined eight points against the Flyers. The Jets’ power play has also been thriving, converting four out of five attempts during their recent road trip.

Jarred with recent struggles, the Devils are looking to reverse their fortunes after losing two straight games to conclude a five-game Western Conference road trip, ending with a 2-3-0 record. Despite their struggles, New Jersey remains in third place in the Metropolitan Division, holding a four-point advantage over the Columbus Blue Jackets, who sit in the top wild card position.

Tonight’s matchup also marks the debut of defenseman Brian Dumoulin for the Devils, recently acquired in a trade. The veteran, who has played 12 seasons in the NHL, brings Stanley Cup-winning experience and aims to bolster the Devils’ defense. “I like to be reliable and give coaches and my teammates kind of the same every night,” Dumoulin mentioned, highlighting his consistent play style.

Devils’ head coach Sheldon Keefe expressed his excitement for Dumoulin’s integration into the team, emphasizing communication as a crucial element. “Just do your thing. He’s a veteran and has played on different teams,” Keefe said. Dumoulin is expected to pair with Johnathan Kovacevic in his first game with New Jersey.

Injuries have hindered the Devils, with key players like Jack Hughes still sidelined. However, New Jersey’s defense remains robust, allowing an average of just 2.49 goals against per game, the second-lowest in the NHL. The Devils’ special teams have also been formidable, with a power play efficiency ranking fourth at 27.9%.

The Jets, on the other hand, hold the top defensive record in the league, allowing only 2.32 goals per game. Their offense is equally formidable, scoring an average of 3.48 goals per game, driven by Scheifele’s 35 goals and Connor’s team-leading 78 points.

As both teams vie for critical points amid playoff races, the Jets and Devils are eager to clinch a victory. “We are looking for responses tonight,” Jets head coach Scott Arniel said. The game represents a pivotal moment for both franchises as they navigate through the challenges of an intense NHL season.

Puck drop is scheduled for 6 pm CT, and fans can tune in via MSGSN or the Devils Hockey Network.
