Jets to Face Steelers in Glen’s Debut as Coach

Florham Park, NJ – The New York Jets will open their season at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 7 at 1 p.m., marking the debut of new head coach Aaron Glenn.
The biggest question heading into the match is who will start at quarterback for the Steelers. Aaron Rodgers, a former Jets quarterback, has been expected to sign with the Steelers, but nothing has been confirmed yet. His presence could add an intriguing layer to the game, with two quarterbacks facing their former teams.
New Jets quarterback Justin Fields spent last season with the Steelers before being benched in favor of Russell Wilson. With Fields expected to lead the Jets this season, fans are eager to see how he performs against his old team.
After the opener against the Steelers, the Jets will play the Buffalo Bills at home in Week 2, followed by back-to-back away games in Florida against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Miami Dolphins on “Monday Night Football.” This season, the Jets will have two prime-time games, a shift from last year when they had six during the original schedule announcement.
In Week 6, the Jets will face the Denver Broncos in London, a game scheduled for October 12 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It will be a 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time kickoff, and the Jets will be the “home” team.
Despite the absence of Rodgers and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who has drawn criticism from Broncos head coach Sean Payton, the game is anticipated to be full of intrigue. Payton, a mentor to Glenn, brings additional storylines to the match.
In the past six seasons, the Jets have faced the Broncos yearly, with the Broncos winning three of the last five matchups. The Jets lost to the Vikings in their last London game in October 2024, adding pressure to perform better this time around.
The Jets maintain marketing rights in the U.K. as part of the NFL’s Global Markets Program. The full schedule will be released Wednesday, but it is confirmed that the Jets will have eight home games at MetLife Stadium this season.
