Jets Set For Preseason Showdown Against Panthers

The New York Jets are gearing up for their second preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, and things are looking a bit different this time around.

Ahead of the matchup, the Jets have announced that 31 players will not be dressing for the game, which kicks off at 7 p.m. ET. This number is up from the 28 players who sat out the last game against Washington.

Among the players sitting out this week is QB Tyrod Taylor, who will be on the sidelines strictly as the emergency quarterback, while Aaron Rodgers continues to rest. The Jets will rely on rookie Andrew Peasley and first-year quarterback Adrian Martinez to lead the offense.

Last week, Peasley and Martinez managed to pull off a comeback win against the Commanders, leading the team to four scoring drives and a 20-17 victory. The coaching staff is excited to see how they perform against the Panthers.

On the offensive side, with star receiver Garrett Wilson not playing, the Jets will see veteran Jason Brownlee and rookie Malachi Corley take center stage. They’ll also look to their young running backs, including Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, to step up in Breece Hall’s absence.

The defense will be led by DL Micheal Clemons and second-year edge Will McDonald. Meanwhile, Leki Fotu and Javon Kinlaw aren’t expected to play, meaning it will be an opportunity for others to shine on the field.

Over on the Panthers’ side, head coach Dave Canales is debating which players to field after a tough loss to the Patriots. With a few starters injured, it remains uncertain if the first overall pick from the 2023 NFL Draft, QB Bryce Young, will take the field.

The Jets and Panthers have a history of close matches, with the last summer game resulting in a Jets victory of 27-0 last August. Football fans are in for an exciting night at the B of A Stadium as both teams look to improve their preseason records.
