Josh Myers New York Jets Center Signing

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The New York Jets have officially added center Josh Myers to their roster, signing the unrestricted free agent on March 12, 2025. Myers, who previously played for the Green Bay Packers, is expected to strengthen the Jets’ offensive line as they begin to reshape their team for the upcoming season.

Myers, a 26-year-old lineman, has a solid career track record, starting 56 regular-season games for the Packers since being drafted in the second round (62nd overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. He was widely recognized for his performance at Ohio State, where he played mainly as center during the 2019 and 2020 seasons, particularly blocking for now-Jets quarterback Justin Fields.

In 2021, Myers stepped into the starting center role immediately following the departure of Corey Linsley to the Los Angeles Chargers. Over the next two seasons, he made 24 starts, including a playoff appearance, and has logged more than 3,481 offensive snaps in his career. His experience comes as the Jets focus on improving their offensive depth.

“I’m excited to join a team with such a passionate fan base and a lot of potential,” Myers said in a press release. “I look forward to working with the coaching staff and contributing to the team’s success.”

The Jets have been active this offseason, addressing several positions, including their quarterback situation with the signing of Justin Fields to a two-year contract worth $40 million. The addition of Myers complements the recent re-signing of linebacker Jamien Sherwood and the acquisition of safety Andre Cisco, showcasing the Jets’ commitment to rebuilding for playoff contention.

Despite mixed success during his tenure with Green Bay, where he ranked as the 30th best center last season according to PFF, Myers is seen as a player with potential as he steps into a new role in New York. The Jets may also consider shuffling their offensive lineup, potentially moving Joe Tippmann to right guard and securing a right tackle position, depending on future acquisitions.

With these moves, the Jets front office, led by General Manager Darren Mougey, is clearly focused on bolstering their lineup for the 2025 season. The signing of Myers is indicative of their broader strategy of prioritizing younger talent and cost-efficient contracts.

“We’re looking to create a competitive atmosphere and build a foundation for future success,” Mougey stated. “Adding players like Josh to our roster is a critical piece of that puzzle.”
