Josh Reynolds New York Jets Signing

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The New York Jets have signed free agent wide receiver Josh Reynolds to a one-year contract worth up to $5 million, enhancing their receiving corps as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season. Reynolds, who turned 30 in February, brings valuable experience and familiarity with the Jets’ coaching staff, having previously played under head coach Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand.

Reynolds’ NFL journey began when the Los Angeles Rams selected him in the fourth round of the 2017 draft. A Texas A&M alumnus, he has developed into a reliable receiver over his eight-year career, totaling 233 receptions for 3,127 yards and 20 touchdowns across 116 regular-season games.

During his time with the Detroit Lions from 2021 to 2023, where he caught 97 passes for 1,393 yards, Reynolds proved to be an effective contributor, particularly in a complementary role. In the Lions’ successful 2023 season, he recorded 40 receptions, 608 yards, and five touchdowns, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure.

“Josh will add depth and experience to our wide receiver unit,” said Jets’ general manager Darren Mougey. “His prior connection with our coaching staff and his performance history make him a great fit for our offensive strategy.”

Last season, Reynolds joined the Broncos on a one-year deal but faced obstacles due to injuries, including a finger injury and being sidelined after a shooting incident. He was later picked up by the Jacksonville Jaguars, where his role was limited, further emphasizing the need for stable contributions.

Reynolds has previously played in five close games against the Jets while with other teams, including the Rams and Lions, establishing a familiarity with the Jets’ game style. His addition comes as the Jets look to improve their performance in tight matchups in the 2025 season.

As the Jets finalize their roster for the upcoming season, Reynolds will have the opportunity to showcase his skills and potentially secure a permanent spot with the team.
